In Their Own Words

Siriporn W.

Bangkok, Thailand

"I had a six-hour layover in Chiang Mai on the way back from Tokyo and needed somewhere to shower and sleep properly. The daytime room was clean and the blackout curtain actually worked — I got four solid hours of sleep. The wake-up call came exactly when requested. I will look for Lanna Ruen next time I pass through."

"I arrived at midnight and the desk was staffed — no waiting, no fuss. The room was genuinely ready, not just unlocked. Breakfast at five in the morning was simple but warm and exactly what I needed before a 6:40am departure. The shuttle was a private car, not a van, which I appreciated at that hour."

"We had two young children with us during a 20-hour connection. The suite had enough space for everyone to rest properly. The sitting area meant the children could watch something quietly while we tried to sleep. The staff knew our departure time and sent a message when the car was ready — we did not need to think about it."

"The shower alone was worth it. After a long flight you want hot water and pressure, and the rainfall shower delivered both. The room was not large but it was very calm and I slept deeply. The location is quiet — not like being next to a main road, more like a lane off the main road."

"Very good for a transit stop. Not a resort, not trying to be — it is clean, quiet and the staff know what they are doing. I left my bags and wandered for a few hours, then came back to the room, showered and felt human again. Exactly what I needed. The tea and coffee were a nice touch."

"The overnight package with shuttle is well thought out. Check-in at 11pm, breakfast at five, shuttle at six, flight at eight. All of it handled without a single moment where I had to figure something out. The shuttle was on time to the minute. I slept properly and caught my connection in good condition."

A Family of Four on a Long Chiang Mai Connection

Long Layover Suite · May 2025

The Situation

A family travelling from Seoul to Phuket had a 22-hour connection in Chiang Mai. With two children aged five and eight, they needed space to rest, somewhere to eat without leaving the area and a reliable way to reach the airport for a 7am departure the following morning.

What Happened

The Long Layover Suite was booked for 24 hours. The sitting area gave the children space to move around. Meals were served in the suite at flexible times. The team noted the 7am flight and prepared the shuttle for a 5:15am departure without the family needing to set multiple alarms.

How It Went

The family departed on schedule with a 90-minute margin. Both parents reported sleeping for at least six hours. The children were calm and had eaten before leaving. The family have since used Lanna Ruen twice more on routes through Chiang Mai.

"We were dreading the connection but it turned out to be one of the most manageable parts of the trip. The suite was genuinely roomy and no one woke us unnecessarily." — Minjeong, Seoul

A Solo Traveller with a Six-Hour Gap and Early Call Time

Daytime Rest Room · April 2025

The Situation

A solo traveller landed at Chiang Mai at 09:00 after a red-eye from Dubai, with a connecting flight at 15:30. She was exhausted but wary of sleeping through her alarm in an unfamiliar hotel.

What Happened

She booked the Daytime Rest Room for six hours. On arrival she asked for a wake-up call at 13:00 with a five-minute follow-up if she did not answer the phone. She showered, left her luggage at the desk and slept from 10:00 to 13:00. The wake-up call came at exactly 13:00.

How It Went

She reached the airport at 14:10 with over an hour before boarding. She described feeling significantly better rested than she had expected and mentioned the shower as the detail that made the biggest difference.

"I was sceptical that a short nap would help at that stage of a long journey. It did. The room was quiet and the bed was genuinely comfortable." — Klara, Germany
